DRAWING STANDARDS Purpose BS 8888 performs three fundamental tasks: Unifying all the ISO standards applicable to technical specification Giving an index of ISO standards involved with different principles of technical product specification (TPS) Providing BSI with a platform for further explanatory commentary where necessary. Topics covered are: basic drawing elements (formats, title block, parts list, revision block, etc.), part views (multiview, auxiliary, and isometric), section views, general dimensions, tolerances, finish symbols, and welding symbols. This course covers the majority of information required to understand basic mechanical two-dimensional engineering drawings. This course is flexible in delivery, and can run over the duration of a day training session or a whole day depending on business requirements and the complexity of the training required. You will study a range of conventional Engineering Drawing methodology, including: -Drawing types (assembly, piece part, machining, welding) - First, Third and Isometric/Orthographic views - Appropriate use of symbols and abbreviations - Line types, styles, conventions - Correct setting and layout of drawings - Basic dimensioning including tolerances - Appropriate drawing equipment and usage This is a competence-based qualification that will lead to a College certificate of attendance following successful achievement.
